Items

You can gain power ups when you get “big hit” by the opposing team. On a successful stick lift the player also has a small chance of receiving a power up. Players can only store up to 4 items at a time.


Flame shot

The puck gets set on fire, the shot is faster and more powerful.


Pylon

Opponent closest to the puck gets turned into a pylon and cannot move for a set amount of time.


Freeze

The player will freeze the opponent closest to them by faking them out. The defender will be frozen for a set amount of time before regaining their composure.


Speed Boost

The player will have increased speed for a set amount of time.


Penalty Box

A set of rink boards falls down from the rafters. If any player is caught in the box, they will be stuck inside of it for a set amount of time or until the next goal is scored.


Zamboni (Portal)

A portal will open up on one side of the rink which will send a zamboni out onto the ice. The zamboni will travel in a straight line into a different portal awaiting it at the other side of the rink. Anything the zamboni hits will be treated as if they were big hit.


Rocket (Single or Triple)

When activated, the player must activate the control again to fire the rocket. the rocket will fly in a straight line until it hits an object. Once it hits an object it will explode.


Homing Rocket (Single or Triple)

When activated, the player must activate the control again to fire the rocket. the rocket will fly towards the nearest opponent until it either runs out of fuel or hits an object. Once it runs out of fuel or hits an object it will explode.


Power Ups

Each captain will have their own ability which is specifically tailored to their play style.


Speedster (Limit Breaker)

Upon activation, timer will appear. As long as the timer is active, the player will become 3 times faster, it is easier for the player to lose the puck if poke checked or stick lifted. The player is immune to big hits while this ability is active.


Dangler (Instinct)

If the player hits the item button corresponding to the right slot a timer will appear on the screen. If the player hits the same slot button again the player will start a deke that can only be stopped by a big hit at the right time (at the start or end of the deke), poke checks and stick lifts will not work. As long as the timer is active the player can repeatedly deke for a maximum of 3 dekes.


Big Hitter (Level Up)

Upon activation, a timer will appear. As long as the timer is active, the player will become 3 times as big as they were, they will be able to big hit any player by just touching them. The player will not have to input the big hit command.


Poke-man

Upon activation, a timer will appear. As long as the timer is active, the player’s stick will become 3 times as big as it was, increasing their poke check range. Poking the puck loose becomes much easier.


Sharpshooter

Player will drop a smokescreen where they currently are. If the player shoots they have an increased chance of scoring since the goalie cannot see through the smoke. The player cannot be hit while the smokescreen is up however the smokescreen only lasts for a short amount of time.


Slapshot

When the player activates this item. The next slap shot the player attempts will have a greater chance of going into the net. It will also have the power to push any player out of the way on its way to the net. The puck will travel at double speed.


Fighter

When activated the player will put on boxing gloves. Will not be able to pick up the puck, Can only punch people out of the way. Knocks out the opposition for a short amount of time.


Balanced Forward

When activated, all items will be removed and no new items can be gained, and a “filter” will appear changing the environment color for a set amount of time. Once the time is up, players will be able to gain items again and the environment color becomes normal.


Blocker

When activated, the player will have a brick wall drop right behind them. The brick wall will stay where it lands and will break if hit by the puck, the big hitter, the fighter, or if a set amount of time has gone by.


Swordsman

Upon activation the player will have a better chance at stick lifting the opponent. If a stick lift is successful, the player will receive 2 items instead of 1.


Power Forward

Upon activation, a timer will appear. As long as the timer is active, the power forward cannot have the puck knocked off their stick and they cannot be hit.

Legend says this captain has the greatest power up of all time.


Effects

Based on the arena the game is being played in, different things can happen. Time based effects will disappear when the next goal is scored, if they have not disappeared before then.


Blizzard

In an outdoor arena, a sudden blizzard may occur obscuring all players view for a short amount of time. This effect is noticeable as snowfall will increase before the blizzard hits.


Broken Rafters

Only in an indoor arena, occasionally a speaker or a piece of the rafters can fall onto the ice stunning all players who were hit by the object. These broken pieces of rafters can be seen falling beforehand by their shadows increasing in size on its way down to the ice. The object will disappear after a set amount of time.


Burst Piping

A pipe bursts under the rink surface making a puddle that will make the players slip and lose control for a short amount of time. The player will only slip if they try to skate, if they glide through the puddle they will not slip. This will be noticeable to the players through the use of a darkened circle on the rink that turns into the puddle after a set amount of time. The puddle will disappear after a set amount of time.


Crowd thrown Items

During gameplay crowd members may throw items onto the ice. These items include drinks, food, and animals. Depending on the item, players may slip, trip, or fall.

Drinks (Zip, Zap, Zag, Zom)

When a crowd member throws one of these drink cups onto the ice the cup will    break and a small pool of the drink will be created. When a player comes in contact with the puddle they will slip and lose control for a short amount of time. The player will only slip if they try to skate, if they glide through the puddle they will not slip. This will be noticeable to the players through the use of a darkened circle on the rink that turns into the puddle after a set amount of time. The puddle will disappear after a set amount of time.

Food (Burgers and Pizza)

When a crowd member throws one of these items onto the ice, the food will land and stay rooted in that position. If a player comes in contact with the food they will trip over the food and ragdoll for a short amount of time. After a few seconds the food will disappear.

Chicken and Ducks

Will be thrown or will fly onto the ice. Any player that makes contact will trip over the animals. They will chase the closest player and try to trip them. After a set amount of time they will fly back out of the play area.

Fish and Squid

Will be thrown onto the arena by fans, or will jump out of surrounding water. Will flop around on the ice tripping any player that comes into contact with them. They will flop back into the water or will fade away after a set amount of time.

Cows and Boars

Will fly into the arena via balloons, when they land in the arena they will wander randomly. Any player that makes contact with them will be “Big HIt” and will ragdoll. After a bit of time goes by, the balloons will refill and the animals will float off into the distance.


Home Ice Advantage

The home team will gain a slight advantage by decreasing the away team’s goalie save chance. This ability will only occur if the home team is losing with less than 15 seconds to play. Will repeatedly occur if the home team is losing.


Ice Tilt

Can only happen once per match. Randomly during a match an extremely large piece of debris will fall on a certain side of the ice. Causing the ice surface to be tilted towards one end of the rink.


No Boards

Occurs on outdoor arena that has no boards. If a player skates off the edge of the rink, the player will fall off and will reappear being dropped onto center ice after a short amount of time.


Tripping on the Blueline

An extremely low chance of occurring, a player can trip over the blue line when skating past it. The player will stumble for a few steps, losing speed and the puck.


Waffle Boards

Will happen rarely. For a short amount of time, the boards turn into giant waffles and the puck and the players will bounce off the boards at a high velocity.
